Intervention
All of the work that we complete with perpetrators, alleged perpetrators and their partners is tailor made to fit the individual’s needs, rather than putting people through a programme where some parts may be irrelevant to them.
The overall programme is carried out over 10 days, usually two consecutive five day weeks; each day runs from 10 am to 4.00 pm approximately with appropriate breaks for refreshments and lunch. This equates to up to 60 hours of intensive intervention, with a requirement for homework tasks to be completed in addition.
The work is recorded in a tailor made workbook, a copy of which is sent to the referring agency with an expectation that it will be copied to the client on receipt. This workbook is then in their possession as reference for the future and can also be used by other professionals working with the person. A final report, including an updated assessment of risk is included in the workbook.
The overall costs in some cases can be met through Legal Aid if they are seen as assessment. In cases like this no guarantees can be given about the outcomes, however further information can be given to the courts to finally decide on the level of contact. The fact that it is block work also means that the timescales can be within the requirements of most courts and meet the needs of the children, as appropriate. Should the referrer decide that the work is required then it can be completed within 6 weeks of it being formally requested.
